Kings Hero

Lets try mobile!

Gameplay

The game is a sort of Archerhero clone, you have one life and battle through zones, each zone having around 30 levels. As you beat enemies you level up, and can upgrade your hero. If you die at any point you have to start from the beginning again & lose upgrades selected during your playthrough, although you earn tokens where you can buy permanent RNG upgrades in the main menu.

Story

In the kingdom of Ardania, monsters have been terrorizing the people for years. The king has had enough and has called on the bravest adventurers in the land to put an end to the creatures’ reign of terror. You are one of these adventurers, and you set out to vanquish as many monsters as you can. Along the way, you upgrade your party with new weapons and armour to make them even more powerful. Can you rid Ardania of its monsters once and for all?

In this game, you will take on the role of a monster hunter, tasked with slaying dangerous creatures and upgrading your character with new weapons, abilities and armour. You will explore a variety of different environments, from dark forests to frozen tundras, in search of powerful monsters to defeat. With each victory, you will earn new equipment and abilities, making you stronger and better able to take on even more fearsome foes.

Development

After fumbling around with some PC ideas at first, eventually decided to go mobile thinking it wouldn’t take as long to develop (mistakes…) and would provide me with a small foothold I could use to later go into the PC market.

The game took a while for me to make, initially starting as a zombie-themed shooter with the same overall gameplay style, after not liking the overall style I went browsing on the Unity store and found some great fantasy-themed characters and environments & decided to go with a different route with aesthetics. As a solo developer maximizing tools is a must, all of the visual & audio assets were 3rd party along with a number of backend tools!

Working part-time during the day and developing in the evenings & night meant the game took much longer to develop! I’m proud of the outcome of the game, it looks and plays like a high-quality mobile game!

**Since I shut my company down, the game is no longer avaliable.
